Celebrate Christmas Underwater in Japan!

How about celebrating Christmas underwater this year?
Dive sites in Japan place Christmas trees underwater during the holiday season.
Here are some popular dive sites where you can dive with, and even decorate the underwater Christmas trees!

Eastern Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture
Izu Oceanic Park (IOP)

Izu Oceanic Park is a dive site famous for the mailbox placed underwater all year long. You can actually send letters from the bottom of the ocean!
Now, a giant Christmas tree is placed at the depth of 20m.

Eastern Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture
Futo

Futo is a popular dive site for divers living in Kanto region. So many macro creatures to see! 😊 A Christmas tree is placed in Yokobama, Futo’s beach dive site, at the depth of about 7~8 m. You can bring the Christmas ornaments underwater and decorate!

December 21
“X’mas Night Diving”
Watch the Christmas tree light up during night dive, and enjoy hot soup afterwards.
Exit time: 7pm

Western Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture
Osezaki

Osezaki is probably the most famous dive site in Japan. During winter, many deep-sea fish tend to appear, attracting many divers’ attention.
This year, a pink Christmas tree was placed in the inner bay of Osezaki.

Tree light up/ Weekdays 1pm ~ 2pm, Weekends 6pm~7:30pm

Koganezaki

Koganezaki is a fun dive site with amazing beach where many macro creatures thrive. During the Christmas season, 2 Christmas trees and a wreath are placed underwater.

Kushimoto

A Christmas tree was also placed in the ocean of Kushimoto, one of the best dive sites in West Japan.
