The 34th Marine Diving Fair 2026 will be held from April 3 (Fri) to April 5 (Sun) at the Sunshine City Convention Center (Bunka Kaikan), 2nd floor, in Ikebukuro. The Ishigaki Island “Yaeyama Diving Association (YDA)” will be exhibiting at the venue.
Located in Okinawa Prefecture’s Yaeyama Islands, Ishigaki Island is one of Japan’s premier diving destinations. It has been ranked No. 1 nationwide for more than 20 consecutive years in the “Best Diving Areas in Japan” rankings.
One of the main reasons it attracts so many divers is the high probability of manta ray encounters. There are four or more manta spots scattered around the island, making it possible to encounter mantas somewhere year-round. When conditions are right, you may even witness more than ten mantas gliding through the water at once. Because of this rare experience, divers from overseas continue to flock to the island.
In addition, Sekisei Lagoon—the largest coral reef area in Japan, stretching between Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island—is home to nearly 400 species of coral. Inside the reef, you can observe a rich variety of tropical marine life, while outside the reef, dynamic underwater topography and encounters with large migratory fish can also be expected.
On Ishigaki Island, the Yaeyama Diving Association (YDA) is a nonprofit organization made up of more than 80 diving and snorkeling operators. In addition to establishing rules to ensure safe diving, the association is actively involved in marine environmental conservation.
At the booth, local guides will be on hand to share the latest information about the island directly. Be sure to stop by and make use of it as a valuable opportunity to gather information for planning your next diving trip.
