The 34th Marine Diving Fair 2026 will be held from Friday, April 3 to Sunday, April 5 at the 2nd Floor of the Cultural Hall, Sunshine City, Ikebukuro. The Oshima Diving Liaison Council will exhibit “Izu Oshima” at the venue.

Izu Ōshima is the closest and largest island in the Izu Islands archipelago from Tokyo. Boarding a high-speed jet ferry from Tokyo’s Takeshiba Passenger Terminal, you’ll arrive in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. Its accessibility, allowing you to enjoy an island getaway on a whim, is part of its charm.

Born from a submarine eruption tens of thousands of years ago, Izu Ōshima is said to be a living volcano, its entire form constantly changing through repeated eruptions. On land, you can encounter unique landscapes formed by volcanic activity and flora and fauna thriving in the harsh environment.

The dynamic terrain created by the volcano extends into the sea, offering diving amidst spectacular scenery like columnar jointing and arches. Influenced by the Kuroshio Current, large species like hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, blue sharks, and tuna sometimes appear. Of course, the vibrant macro life typical of Izu is also not to be missed.

And currently, the “11th Izu Oshima Underwater Photo Contest” is in full swing! The submission period runs until Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with results announced on Tuesday, March 31. Winning entries will be displayed at the Izu Oshima booth within the Marine Diving Fair 2026 venue.
