This terrain, known as “Antonio Gaudi,” derives its name from its intricate network of arches, which form a complex and beautiful pattern reminiscent of Gaudi's designs. If you go to Miyako Island, you absolutely must dive here!

The 34th Marine Diving Fair 2026 will be held from Friday, April 3 to Sunday, April 5 at the 2nd Floor of the Cultural Hall, Sunshine City, Ikebukuro. The Miyakojima Churaumi Council will exhibit “Miyakojima (Miyako Island)” at the venue.

The Miyako Islands, located between Okinawa Island and Ishigaki Island, consist of eight islands of varying sizes, with Miyako Island at its center. It is connected by bridges to Kurima Island, Ikema Island, and Irabu Island, allowing travel by land.

Their most striking feature is the breathtaking scale of their geological beauty. The limestone terrain, formed by uplifted coral reefs, has been sculpted by water erosion into intricate underwater landscapes featuring caves, arches, and crevasses. Home to some of Japan’s largest coral reefs, the islands also boast exceptionally clear waters—a unique feature of islands without mountains or rivers. The sea here stretches out in the famed “Miyako Blue,” considered among Okinawa’s most beautiful.

On November 11, 2025, Miyako Island’s first manta ray spot, “Manta Hospital,” officially opened! This spot was created as the result of extensive research and discussions by a special team from the Miyakojima Churaumi Council, which established proper viewing rules. This development further expands the ways to enjoy diving in Miyako Island.

At the event booth, local guides will fully showcase the ocean’s charm, blending dynamic power with delicate beauty. Hearing their stories will surely captivate you, making Miyako Island your next diving destination!
