The creature you're keen to meet while diving in the Ogasawara Islands, specifically at Mulberry (Maruberi) in Chichijima, is the critically endangered sand tiger shark (Shirowani)!

The Ogasawara Islands, presented by the Tokyo Islands Tourism Federation and the Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau, will be featured at the 33rd Marine Diving Fair 2025, held from April 4 (Fri) to April 6 (Sun).

Located about 1,000 km south of Tokyo, these remote islands are accessible only by a 24-hour ferry ride. Due to limited transportation, a minimum of a six-day trip is required, yet many visitors embark on this journey to experience the breathtaking beauty of these pristine islands.

Having never been connected to a continent, the Ogasawara Islands boast a unique ecosystem with many endemic species. The crystal-clear “Bonin Blue” waters are home to rare marine life, including the elusive whitetip reef shark (Shiro-wani), the striking masked angelfish (Yuuzen), and year-round dolphin encounters. Seasonal whale watching is also a highlight, with humpback whales in winter and sperm whales in summer.

At the booth, visitors can get firsthand insights into the latest updates on the islands and their diving opportunities. Plan your dream diving adventure to the Ogasawara Islands!
